This program focuses on the essential characteristics of the Oil & Gas sector as a means for improving the understanding of its nature and the way it operates worldwide. The entirety of the academic content is based on the most updated understanding of the authors as leading agents in the industry from international organizations, enterprises, corporations, manufacturers, etc. These experiences and perceptions have been gathered in a wide range of publications (books and magazines) and online references.
The main goals of this program include the understanding of how the Industries operate, their current status and trends, I+D, and their development projections for the next decades. To this end, extensive academic material will be provided to help the student understand the mechanisms for obtaining raw materials, the associated transformation processes to produce high-value products, and the key project management concepts and phases.On the other hand, the program delves into the engineering and design of industrial plants, the equipment and materials used in these processes, transportation and storage, the markets, the types of international trade, contract types, and other management aspects that usually govern these Industries.
The most relevant associated job opportunities include: Project engineer, Project Manager, Contract Manager, Design Manager for static and rotating equipment, MTO, E&I, etc. Other alternatives include procurement and provisioning officers, market analyst and/or consultant and trader of either raw materials of or final products: refined products, petrochemicals, and biofuels
The program is divided into 9 modules which are gathered into 3 main groups:
• The first group consists of the first 5 modules on the world of Hydrocarbons (General introduction), overall descriptions of the Oil and Biofuels Industries, the Natural Gas & LNG Industry, and the Petrochemical Industry. They also address the development of the Procurement, Markets and Trading, in the present and in the future, within the Global Energy Transition Process,
• The second group, Modules 6 and 7, focuses on the concept of Industrial Project and the fundamentals of Engineering and Design of the most representative Materials, Equipment and Plants,
• Finally, the last two modules (8 and 9) provide a comprehensive vision of the most common contract types (EPCs) within the Oil & Gas Sector, their particularities, clauses, and the associated guidelines.
This program is aimed at students or professionals from the Oil & Gas sector, as well as from the petrochemical and biofuel industries. It also aims at those involved in the Design, Procurement and/or Construction of industrial plant materials, equipment or components. Likewise, the course is aimed at professionals involved in contract management, and the trade of raw materials such as crude oil, natural Gas, LNG or Biomass and their finished/refined products. Additionally, it can also be beneficial for professionals from other sectors who need to understand the particularities, characteristics, technologies, and specific processes of the value chains of these industries, towards improving their professional careers.
